This month, a new edition of Squingle, a mind-bending puzzle game blending virtual and mixed reality elements, will hit the scene. Developed by Dr. Ben Outram, the game involves guiding orbs through intricate, glass-like mazes without touching the edges. VRAL Games (VRIDER) is bringing this fresh version to life, with both immersive VR and mixed reality options, supporting both Touch controllers and hand-tracking functionality.
As previewed on the Meta Horizon Store, this updated Squingle edition debuts with over 100 unique puzzles, promising future expansions. Players can enjoy both seated and standing modes, and the game features puzzles of varying scales, from room-sized to smaller challenges. A “Challenge Mode” also adds a competitive edge, allowing players to test their skills against the clock with a global leaderboard to track top times.
The original game, now known as Squingle – Legacy, had maintained a strong following with continued updates since its 2021 launch. It initially featured over 100 levels, later integrating mixed reality elements through a ‘Passthrough Update,’ followed by further enhancements for hand tracking and mixed reality gameplay.
Squingle arrives on the Meta Quest platform on November 21.
